From the Revolutionary Pension Application of John Lawson filed the 28 August 1832 in Smith County, Tennessee - Stated that John Lawson entered the service as a private in King and Queen County, VA in the year of 1777 and that he was born in Gloucester County, VA. His wife, Frances Lawson file her application 6 September 1838 and stated that John and her were married 17 November 1779 in Gloucester County, VA. That John died 2 April 1837. William Neeley gave a deposition that he knew both John and Frances Lawson and that he married their only daughter, Elizabeth in Halifax County, VA. That they had moved to Halifax from Gloucester about 1798. The attached Bible record showed that John Lawson was born 7 September 1760, Frances was born 5 October 1763 and Elizabeth was born 8 April 1782. Indicated that the Bible belonged to Frances' grandparents, Daniel and Mary Hunter and she purchased it from her grandmother's estate. It indicated that Daniel Hunter died 4 November 1743.
